Whittier teen is valedictorian of online school

Among the graduates at ceremonies held recently at Fullerton College for the Insight School of California – Los Angeles, was Whittier teen Roger Sanchez.

He was the class valedictorian for Insight School of California, which is a tuition-free, full-time, online public high school designed for families and students seeking an alternative to the traditional brick-and-mortar school environment.

Sanchez, who will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a computer science major, was also awarded a $500 scholarship toward college costs based on an essay and scholastic achievement.

His studies will focus on artificial intelligence and plans on contributing to research in alternative energies.

Sanchez was recently awarded an Academic Competitiveness Grant for his level of academic excellence.
