The Houston Independent School District is opening up its virtual school program to students across the state.
HISD, along with partner Connections Academy, created the tuition-free virtual school program in December 2008 with 100 students in grades three through eight.
The expansion will allow 1,000 students to enroll in the Texas Connections Academy, according to the district.
